WALLIS MURPHY – YOGA INSTRUCTOR
I have been practicing yoga since I was a teenager. I have aways looked for balance in body and mind.
Yoga has been a part of my life to keep my mind and body flexible, open and calm. You see the world differently when you hang upside down for a small part of every day.
I started teaching about 3 years ago and my experiences have taken me to sea where I taught yoga privately to yacht owners around the world. Now back in Melbourne I am teaching privately, at yoga studios and gyms. I love working with people who are new to yoga, or people that do not have ‘natural’ flexibility because of their anatomy, or because of other training that they do – such as you guys at Cross Fit! Yoga is such a wonderful complement to your training bringing balance to your body and mind. My goal is to give you a deep stretching experience combined with some time to chill out mentally. I really encourage you to come and check it out if you haven’t already.
On a Wednesday night at 7.45pm I run a Yin Yoga session, predominantly reclined positions where we work deep into your connective tissue with long holds in poses. on Sundays at 11.15am I run a Yin Yang class which is a combination of basic Vinyasa flow and Yin. Both sessions will incorporate hands on adjustment, essential oils and massage in Savasana (the final resting posture).
I have undertaken 200 hour Barkan Method TT with Jimmy Barkan, Level 1 & 2 Yin Yoga TT with Jennifer Crescenzo, 20 hour Yoga for Kids & Teens TT with Edna Reinhardt, 8 hour Workshop with Jason Crandell: Cultivating Your Core, Applied First Aid with St Johns, and most recently a 30 hours training with Ella Cojocaru on the Art of Sequencing.
I am focused on developing my skills as a yoga instructor and personal trainer, undertaking workshops regularly, practising (almost) daily, and reading and studying to expand my understanding of the body, mind and soul.
I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
